A 10 minute spoiler-free review of Woody Allen’s superb drama starring Cate Blanchett as the spoiled self-deluding wife of a crooked financier, brought to bankruptcy when he’s arrested. Forced to live with her working-class sister Ginger, we see Jasmine drinking heavily, talking to herself, while trying to portray herself as a serenely elegant successful woman. The result is an Oscar-worthy performance of great subtlety and vulnerability.
